Grandparents Day

Last Friday our Year 2 team had its Big Day in. What made it really special was that our Grandparents came to school. We have been learning about change and how things have changed over the last 100 years.

At the beginning of the term we went to Ferrymead to learn about how things were 100 years ago. Since then we have been researching about change in the last 100 years. We wrote questions and sent surveys to our Grandparents to find out how things were about 50 years ago.

Last week our Grandparents came to school. First we introduced them to the class and then we shared our learning with them. Next the Grandparents bought something special to share from long ago. Some bought tools and treasures, others photos and toys. It was very interesting. After that our Grandparents helped us make wee spinners.

Finally we headed over to English Park for a special Celebration Assembly. We sang, danced and shared special work. We thing the Grandparents were very impressed! After assembly we had a special morning tea at English Park.

After lunch we watched a movies from long ago called The Railway Children and had a chubba chub lollipop! It was a fun day.

Grandparents are very special and we are glad they could come to school and spend time with us.
